"I always say the secret is there's no secrets," Cindy Crawford told The Hollywood Reporter when it comes to beauty tips. But a little cream or oil can go a long way when getting camera ready or maintaining healthy skin. From Lea Michele's favorite cleanser to January Jones' skin-care routine, here's a look at some of the beauty brands adored by stars and their makeup artists.
eXO Skin Simple
Is this the secret to Sofia Vergara's ageless skin? The Modern Family actress, along with reality star Kourtney Kardashian, are fans of eXO Skin Simple's facial moisturizer. The bio digital perfection moisturizer ($118) features 150 million Zen3 exosomes that soften and hydrate skin; products are 93 percent all-natural.
Shani Darden
Licensed esthetician Shani Darden is a fave of lifestyle experts Chrissy Teigen, Jessica Alba and friend Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. Mad Men's January Jones loves her Texture Reform Gentle Resurfacing Serum ($95), which helps the skin with texture, blemishes and redness.
Biossance
The star product of eco-friendly brand Biossance, Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil is beloved by Whitney Port and Lily James, as well as celebrity makeup artist Katey Denno. With clients including Vanessa Kirby and Thandie Newton, Denno wrote on Instagram, "It’s the bottle I have with me on this many weeks of travel, and it’s the one I use to moisturize clients’ faces and limbs."
Biossance, owned by biotech company Amyris, worked in Berkeley labs to develop a renewable sugarcane version of squalane (the original squalene, part of the skin's natural moisture, is found in plants and olives). The material is bio-fermented to create the sustainable beauty product.
iS Clinical
January Jones is partial to the iS Clinical active serum and pro-heal serum, while Michele calls herself a huge fan of the innovative skincare brand, saying the signature blue-bottled face cleanser isn't rough on her skin and the copper mist helps her "feel brand new."
Brad Goreski, stylist to Sarah Hyland, Jenna Dewan and Kaley Cuoco, tells The Hollywood Reporter iS Clinical is so good because it's medical grade. "The active serum has totally changed the way my skin is. I put it on every night. Their masks are unbelievable. I just, I love it. It's a great quality product," Goreski tells THR.
Hollywood groomer Benjamin Thigpen used the reparative moisture emulsion, youth eye complex and copper firming mist on former Suite Life of Zack and Cody star Dylan Sprouse (now he's got his own mead shop in Brooklyn).
Glossier
Glossier got its start in Hollywood, at the hands of The Hills star Emily Weiss, CEO and founder. With a pop-up shop on Melrose Avenue, Glossier's skin care merch includes the Zit Stick ($14), the Solution exfoliator ($24) and milky jelly cleanser ($9).
Also known for its lip products and Boy Brow (worn by Amandla Stenberg), Glossier attracts Beyonce, in addition to Maya Rudolph and Taraji P. Henson, who wore glossed lips to the 2018 Oscars, and Reese Witherspoon and Rashida Jones, who sported Glossier at the Vanity Fair after party.
Essentiel by Adele
Chloe Grace Moretz and Jenna Dewan are proponents of Essentiel by Adele. Moretz raved about her vegan Leaping Bunny-certified moisturizer ($39), posting "love love love" on her Instagram story.
Made in Malibu, the natural products come not from singer Adele, but from beauty entrepreneur Adele Uddo, who has worked with Hugh Jackman and Patrick Dempsey, as well as designers Christian Louboutin and Dior.
Suqqu
Suqqu is an "obsession" for makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan (clients: Cara Delevingne, Zoey Deutch, Millie Bobby Brown and Nicole Kidman). In a non-sponsored post, she said the products take her skin from cactus emoji to waves emoji, specifically recommending the light solution essence ($95.69) — with the lotion and fluid combo — which are "intensely moisturizing and my new best friend … if you have crazy dry skin like myself, get on it!"
Stylist to Julia Roberts, Gal Gadot and Cate Blanchett, Elizabeth Stewart adds that she's obsessed with the Suqqu lip balm. Naomi Watts wore the brand at the Venice Film Festival, while James used it at the Mamma Mia 2 premiere in London.
Dermalogica
Developed by The International Dermal Institute, Dermalogica has tapped Riverdale starlet Lili Reinhart as its leading lady. At age 13, Reinhart developed acne and now calls herself "incredibly passionate about skincare." After seeing dermatologists and trying dozens of treatments, she's partnered with Dermalogica to launch two new Clear Start products and serves as creative consultant for their 10-minute facial called Clearly Glowing Facelift.
Envy Medical
Is it even popular if Cardi B doesn't do an Instagram Live video of it? The rapper filmed her experience with Envy Medical's Dermalinfusion treatment, which exfoliates to remove dry skin, extracts dirt from pores and infuses serum into the skin. The innovative brand has its roots in dermatology and medical aesthetics; top sellers include the exfoliating Glycopeel 10 ($70) and soothing Dermal Balance ($60).
